If you’re only adding salt and pepper to your cooking, it’s time to expand your flavour repertoire and add some health-improving herbs and spices to your meals. While doing so won’t magically turn you into a marathon runner, your health is a great reason they’re worth trying out. Plus, it’s a well-known fact that they make every meal an explosion of flavour and fun.

Anise

Anise is a sweet and aromatic seed that is tastes a lot like licorice and fennel. You can use it to calm an upset stomach, help with coughs and runny noses and also to increase appetite. Use it as an ingredient in homemade sausage patties, cough gummies and things like pancakes, waffles and muffins. It actually pairs especially well with pumpkin.
